Environmental Health & Safety Intern

Job Purpose/Department Overview:

Provide support to plant Safety and Operations Management through the implementation of health and safety programs, procedures, and education initiatives focused on compliance assurance, incident reduction, and risk mitigation.
Projects:

  • Support overall business strategy by ensuring all health and safety directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively incorporated at plant level.
  • Undertake, at regular intervals audits/inspections of the plant (including inspections of machinery, equipment in use, and work systems in operation) with plant management to ensure compliance with corporate polices and regulations. Where appropriate, develop corrective and preventive actions with management team.
  • Collaborate with EHS managers, supervisors, and production employees to conduct job hazard analyses and risk assessments and implement proper controls, as necessary.
  • Identify plant health and safety training needs, develop appropriate resources, and execute training sessions for employees and management staff as required.
  • Actively participate in plant safety committee meetings.
  • Support plant supervisors with the investigation of incidents. Where necessary, lead investigation process and/or collaborate with appropriate staff on serious incidents.
    • Communicate incidents and corrective actions in a timely, thorough, and effective manner.
  • Assist in the tracking and monitoring of plant health and safety metrics, focusing on leading indicators, including, but not limited to, Operator Performed Maintenance, Safety Tool Box Training Completion and open Safety Corrective Actions, and communicate trends to management team as needed to drive performance.
  • Maintain health and safety records to ensure adherence to corporate polices and/or regulatory requirements. Including, but not limited to, OSHA 300 log, incident records, safety metrics, training, inspections, and evaluations.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering team on health and safety requirements in the design, introduction, installation, use and decommissioning of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    Internship program for Senior candidates of a bachelor's degree.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
